Additional Doctoral Funding Opportunities

Campus Resources

There are a number of financial resources available on campus. These are very competitive and are used to assist in recruiting exceptional students into our program.

Goodnight Doctoral Fellowships – these are highly competitive with 20 awards annually across the entire campus. We will nominate exceptional PhD candidates who apply prior to January 15 for the following fall semester. The Fellowships provide a highly competitive stipend in addition to tuition and health insurance for a period of three years.

Provost Doctoral Fellowships – these highly competitive awards supplement stipends offered to outstanding candidates in the first year of attendance. We will nominate exceptional PhD students who apply prior to January 15 for the following fall semester. In addition to a highly competitive stipend, awardees receive tuition and health insurance.

University Graduate Doctoral Fellowships – Exceptional PhD students may receive a $4,000 fellowship in their first year. We will nominate exceptional PhD students who apply prior to January 15 for the following fall semester. This fellowship is in addition to the stipend offered by the faculty member interested in the student.

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master’s and doctoral degrees at accredited United States institutions. Exceptional candidates for the MS and PhD are encouraged to pursue this award that provides three years of funding at $37,000 per year plus tuition, fees, and health insurance.
